  Individual source or total area emission air inventories are made for the complete range of contaminants. Measurements can be made by strict compliance to protocols, or by more economical engineering techniques. Estimates are made from process information, contaminant properties and by reference to standard factors and similar methods. Inventories are typically produced on spreadsheet/databases that allow for clear reporting and easy updating in the future.

  Many processes generate waste streams that are difficult to manage, such as toxic/reactive solids and high opacity stack plumes. Projects have included work with persistent, condensing plume opacity and leachate from toxic, reactive solid wastes.

Dispersion modelling is usually a requirement for air emissions whereas concentration and leachate parameters are often needed for water and waste permits.
