Centennial College
Established in 1966, Centennial is Ontario's first community
college, serving the eastern portion of the Greater Toronto Area
through four campuses and two satellite locations. Its record is
one of exemplary teaching, innovative programming and extensive
partnership building. Recognized as one of the most culturally
diverse postsecondary institutions in Canada, almost 100
ethnocultural groups are represented and 80 languages are spoken
on campus.
Centennial has a student population of 12,000 full-time students
and 35,000 part-time learners. It has an annual operating budget
of approximately $142 million and employs 2,000 full- and part-
time staff and faculty.
Centennial offers more than 95 diploma and certificate programs
in business, communication arts, community and consumer services, engineering technology, health sciences and transportation. These career-oriented programs emphasize practical experience, such as laboratory learning, work placement, individual and group projects and paid co-op education.
Centennial has recently developed nine degree-related programs. Of
these, three are four-year applied degree programs in computer and
communication networking; software systems design, development and management; and integrated accounting and information technology management. Centennial also has five joint-degree programs with the University of Toronto at Scarborough (UTSC), and a collaborative nursing program with Ryerson University.
