Canning & Pitt Associates, Inc. is an economic development
and environmental assessment consulting firm with extensive
experience in communications, socio-economic impact analysis,
impact mitigation and strategic planning, particularly for the
marine environment and fisheries. The firm also has expertise in
project management, land use planning, public consultation,
conference planning and facilitation, and surveys.
Canning & Pitt Associates has worked on major projects in
Newfoundland, Prince Edward Island, New Brunswick, Nova
Scotia, Scotland and elsewhere, for government and private-
sector clients. The firm's recent clients include the Hibernia
Management and Development Company, the Government of Canada,
the Government of Newfoundland and Labrador, Petro-Canada, Mobil
Oil, Hunt Oil, Talisman Energy, the Newfoundland Manufacturers'
Association, the Task Force on Incomes and Adjustment in the
Atlantic Fisheries and the Northumberland Strait Crossing
Project (PEI Fixed Link).
The firm has also undertaken such work as a fisheries
economic/human use study in support of the legal team
representing Canada in its territorial dispute with
France; marine seismic survey co-ordination, a major
study of the extent and value of manufacturing in the
Newfoundland and Labrador; economic and policy studies for

Fishery; marine economic resource mapping for the Environmental
