CNIB Library for the Blind
The CNIB Library for the Blind, a Division of the CNIB, located
in Toronto, Ontario, offers nation-wide library and information
services for approximately 500,000 blind and print disabled
Canadians. It is one of the largest producers of materials in
accessible formats. Through a longstanding partnership with
Canada Post, all alternative format materials are delivered
postage-free.
The CNIB Library for the Blind is committed to fulfilling the
fundamental rights for access to all expressions of knowledge,
intellect and creativity.
In the 1990's, the CNIB strategy became fixed on one goal: to
fully enfranchise people who are blind and visually impaired,
helping them become full participants in society. In 1998,
chosen from a group of 69 blindness organizations from around
the world, the CNIB was awarded the inaugural SAP/Stevie Wonder
Vision Award for Best Role Model Organization of the Year.
