Environmental Products And Services

Effluent Treatment Systems.
CANMET's mineral sciences expertise reflects a multidisciplinary capability in the development of custom-designed effluent treatment approaches for mining and mineral-processing operations. A superior staff and excellent facilities enable CANMET to discover innovative solutions to problems associated with metals, ammonia, cyanide, nitrate, suspended solids and other substances in mine and mineral-processing effluents, tailings piles, sludges and slags. CANMET emphasizes reducing the net costs of treatment technologies and effluent management approaches. CANMET mineral sciences activities have developed methods for measuring and removing substances from effluent and emission streams, as well as for evaluating environmental effects monitoring tools. These activities have also been instrumental in providing the science required for sensible environmental regulation and policies.

Recycle Technologies For Minerals And Metals.
CANMET recycle activities are lessening the environmental impacts of Canadian minerals and metals industries. New CANMET technologies enable these industries to re-use basic materials, reducing process wastes and recovering valuable resources. CANMET also acts as a technology gatekeeper to major recycle programs in the U.S., European Economic Community and Japan.
