CAD RIADH MORANA

CAD RIADH MORANA

Covering approximately 116 hectares, the field of the Company of Agricultural Development: RIADH MORANA is located at Grombalia, 34 kilometers from Tunis, in an area of ex-colonists vineyards. RIADH MORANA is a family owned company whose members are of Canadian and Tunisian nationality. At the moment of creation of the company, in 1998, the field was an empty area except for 4 hectares of 52 years old olive oil-trees and 12 hectares of vine ex-colonist (type of vine: Carignan) of the same age. The 12 hectares of Carignan were removed as envisaged in 2005. Today the plantation adds up approximately to 96 hectares and only 15 hectares are still not planted. The remainder of the surface is occupied by a hangar, a basin of 1000 m3 and its fertirrigation station, the offices, houses for certain members of the personnel, and a large villa. It includes mainly two types of cultures: the arboriculture and the vine planted according to the following densities and surfaces:

3. HARVEST 2004/2005

The year 2005 was a good year of production, that is to say: 575 tons of peaches and nectarines, 120 tons of plums, and 350 tons of wine grapes. We estimate that when all the planted field reaches its full output, our production will be of approximately: 850 tons of peaches and nectarines, 160 tons plums and 500 tons of noble wine grapes (our grapes are intended to make a high quality wine, so we have set 10 tons/hectare as a maximum). The 15 hectares not planted are at present occupied by wheat, but are intended for 8 hectares olive oil-trees and 7 hectares of almond trees in the next two years.

4. SALES MANAGEMENT

We offer mainly peaches (Grade: AA, A, B, C), plums (Grade AA, A, B, C), and olive oil (Extra virgin) in metal cans of 3 liters. We hope in a very near future to manufacture and market peach, plum, and grape juices; as well as canned fruits. Prices vary from one harvest to the next. We are currently satisfying our local and international customers. Our wine grapes are sold to neighboring cellars producing a wine of high quality intended mainly for export. We would like to be able to market our wine grapes abroad, and we seek a partner for the creation of a cellar. This cellar will be intended to make a wine of high quality mainly for export.
