Fisheries observers are independent technicians who monitor and
compile detailed data on fishing activities for reports to
governments and industry. These observers work on board
national
and foreign vessels fishing in national or international waters.
The data collected are essential for fishery protection and for
evaluation and management of several major national and
international resources.
