New Brunswick Biotechnology and Technological Innovation Centre of Excellence Inc. / Centre d'excellence en biotechnologie et innovations techniques du Nouveau-Brunswick inc., (BioAtlantech) is a provincially-chartered corporation under the provisions of Part I of the New Brunswick Companies Act, and was officially incorporated on March 28, 1996.

BioAtlantech is the lead agency for the development of the bio-industries in New Brunswick. It's mandate is to:

-nurture new and existing businesses in the province's Life Sciences sectors;

-support the enhancement of Life Sciences R&D infrastructure in New Brunswick;

-enhance public awareness province-wide on the increasing role of the Life Sciences sectors in today's economy and society.

BioAtlantech is interested in developing business relationships and strategic alliances with companies looking for marketing, research and manufacturing opportunities in New Brunswick. We offer a single entry point for all interested stakeholders in the province's bio-industries. BioAtlantech works closely with provincial and federal economic development agencies, as well as an array of research institutions and industry leaders in the bioresource sectors.

BioAtlantech is focused on attracting companies with research and development activities related to the agriculture, marine and forestry sectors. It promotes New Brunswick's quality and integrated research networks, as well as it's excellent business environment and unparalleled quality of life.

Moreover, BioAtlantech also supports the emergence of small biotech companies through provincial business initiatives and spin-offs from public institutions. The corporation acts as both a mentor to, and a liason between, small-to-medium-size biotech companies, in addition to providing funding from venture capital and other granting agencies. BioAtlantech is also leading the development of new business consortia to invest in biotech solutions of local and international significance.

BioAtlantech operates two companies - one specializing in potato genomics (Solanum Genomics International Inc.), and the other in wild blueberry and cranberry nutraceuticals (Vaccinium Technologies Inc.).
