Due Diligence Assessments
This is an assessment of your organizations readiness to deal
with unforeseen environmental upsets. A review of your warning
systems, response procedures and staff and management training
to ensure that your organization has done everything reasonable
to ensure that unforeseen events do not result in unacceptable
environmental damage
Environmental Investigation
Environmental incidents occur for a reason, and often because
of human actions or inactions. An investigation will determine
who was involved and what was done and will determine if those
actions were responsible or contributory to the incident. If
an incident occurs, your organization will want to know why and
how a similar occurrence can be prevented in the future. An
environmental investigation will answer those questions for you.
Environmental Audits
These include system audits of Environmental Management or
Environmental Safety systems to ensure that they are
functioning as designed and are meeting the intended objectives
of those systems. They also include compliance audits that are
intended to help an organization find out if its operation is
in compliance with current federal and provincial environmental
legislation.
Predator Hazard Assessment
This is an assessment of the potential threat to human safety
or property from large wild predators. They typically involve
business operations or camps in rural or remote areas or
agriculture operations. However, they can also be useful to
municipalities and in urban areas of the province. These
assessments include bear hazard assessments that are required
as the first step to a community becoming designated as Bear
Smart
Staff And Management Training
Ensuring your staff and management understand what
environmental due diligence is and why it is important to them
and to your organization. Helping them understand what is
expected of the organization and what is expected of them.
Training in understanding and avoiding the potential threats
from large predators like bears and cougars. Many
organizations expose staff to these animals on a regular basis
but do not prepare those staff to avoid conflicts with them.
Preventing conflicts is the least expensive and most successful
way of managing them. Whether those conflicts are with
environmental legislation or with wildlife, you are far better
off in expending resources to prevent those conflicts than in
responding to those conflicts after the fact. Training your
staff and management team in prevention is your first step to
achieving Due Diligence!!!
