systems for many industries including : Plastics; Pulp
& Paper; Graphics; Metal Working; Chemical; Food Processing;
Marine and others Expansion through natural growth and acqui-
sitions has BERG well positioned for the competitive nineties
and into the next millennium.

BERG maintains a large engineering department, staffed
with specialists experienced in the design of refrigeration,
fluid pumping, heat transfer systems, overall project designs
aided by advanced CAD systems and years of practical
experience. Imaginative designs for heat recovery, energy
savings, central control and monitoring setups are examples
of our expertise and commitment to progress and commitment
to progress in our industry.

From our modern 45,000 square foot manufacturing plant,
located in suburban Toronto, Canada, our products range
from small portable chillers to packaged and /or large
custom central units; from small ice machines producing
10,000 lbs. of ice per day, to large units making 60 tons or
more
of ice per day (used extensively in the Fishing and Vege-
table Growing Industries). Maintenance and corrosion-free
Cooling Towers, made from rugged fibreglass, round out our
cooling equipment line.

BERG SERVICE operates 24 hours a day, 7 days a week,
with continual, round-the-clock access to our well-stocked
inventory, ensuring not only fast and constant response to
requirements, but also a well-equipped response - a BERG

vehicles are telephone dispatched throughout the southern
Ontario (Canada) region. In other major centres in Canada
and the USA, as well as international points, we have
associated service organizations capable of providing the
same level of service.

Export are world-wide, from a chiller unit on an oil rig in
the Pacific, to central cooling systems in plastic plants in
France, Hungary, Egypt, Zaire, Hong Kong, Chile, Mexico,
etc., from a single ice machine at a meat plant in Moscow
and a series of ice making plants in small fishing villages in
Guyana, to very large ice plant installations in mainland
China. We supply our customers' requirements, with a
commitment to quality and longevity.

BERG has been very active in the global community. Projects
in the Far East have resulted in BERG opening a representative
office in Beijing. We are committed to a growing export market
where we believe that the criteria for success is engineering
innovation, top quality and cost reduction for the customer.

Products

Refrigeration Unit, Commercial Nes

Chillers, Liquid, Packaged, Nes
Portable, Central, Remote Chillers for Process Cooling. Used by a wide variety of industries including automotive, plastics, metal forming, printing, food processing and other industries which require cooling as a result of heat generation in a process.

Shell-ice Makers
- SHELL ICE MAKERS -Superior to crushed or flake-ice -Cool faster and lasts longer Shell-ice can be bagged or blown, shovelled or conveyed, and will not freeze or solidify into unmanageable lumps. The BERG packaged shell-ice maker is a highly efficient machine that provides unique fragments of finely divided ice for the preservation of perishable food products in storage and in transit. Shell-ice is also an excellent, economical source of cooling for the removal of heat in industrial ap- plication including, ingredient mixing processes and exothermic applications. Users find it consistently free flowing, easy to handle and exceeding efficient for preserving the quality of their product. Shell-ice is continually being referred to as the popular choice for ice in the Fishing Industry, and is rapidly becoming the favoured solution for ice requirements in the Poultry , Agriculture and Food Processing Industries, as well as specialized projects such as critical concrete construction work. MODELS AVAILABLE FROM 7 TO 50 TONS PER DAY Available in air cooled or water cooled models BERG's shell-ice maker is completely packaged, factory tested, ready to make ice when connected to water and power. Clean, rust-free ice is harvested in just minutes after start up. Production is recycled by fully automatic controls. Ice shells are automatically fragmented to a perfect size and their slight curvature, created by forming on the tapered stainless steel evaporators, prevents the ice from freezing together into unmanageable lumps. The thickness of the ice shells cam be adjusted from 1/8 to 3/4 of an inch simply with the turn of a dial. The user friendly solid state controls allows the operator to select the ice thickness which best suits his requirements. The need for salt water ice can be easily be accomplished on the same machine, with simply a few small adjustments to the control timers. The pure nature of shell ice will speed the cooling effect when top icing. Shell ice will lay on the products, sustaining contact an keeping the product wet and cold. The use of frost free shell ice in the Agricultural Industry yields a higher quality product by preventing browning, thus allowing the produce to arrive to market in a fresh, crisp state. In the Fishing Industry, BERG's modular approach to ice making equipment provides an inexpensive, dependable and local source of shell ice for icing fresh fish while on-board, and while awaiting transportation and processing. This ensures a high quality product. BERG ANNOUNCES A NEW LINE OF MODULAR ICE MAKERS - BERG 'LS' These new modular ice makers are designed in nominal 5 ton modules that can be added to as demand grows to a total of 25 tons per day. A single SC5 Controller manages and monitors the operation of the system. This new machine complements the Berg family of high quality, heavy duty ice machines by allowing the buyer to meet current and future ice requirements easily and most important, economically. The key to the 'LS' modularity lies in the unique arrangement of the machine's four key components - ice making Low Side; refrigeration High Side; condenser and the New SC 5 Controller - the heart of the system. All additional Low Side modules can be controlled from this single point. See our website for further details www.berg-group.com or drop us an e mail to sales@berg-group.com for any literature or enquiry requests These 'LS' Modules are available with or without factory supplied refrigeration.

Environmental Products And Services

Air Conditioner

Recirculate Water Using Package Chillers And Cooling Tower Systems.
Berg Chilling Systems will provide a complete service whereby a Professional Association Specialist will review the requirements. This would be done in light of local conditions such as existing cooling equipment, plant location, etc. with input from key personnel. Once the study is completed a detailed submittal is made listing the recommended system and components. Often recommendations are made to enable the customer to take advantage of any government grants etc. which might be available. At the same time a report on the payback can be calculated. This gives the customer a good overall picture of the benefits of the system without spending a fortune deciding whether to install the system or not.

Use Free Winter Cooling Where Possible, Install Energy Efficient Motors, Variable Speed Drivers And Other Devices To Cut Down On Energy Bills.
Berg Chilling Systems will provide a complete survey of the plant whereby a Professional Application Specialist will review the requirements. This would include reviewing all of the equipment in the plant that uses energy with the idea of having it operate more efficiently. At the same time each cooling process would be reviewed to make sure that it is being handled as efficiently as possible. Where possible free winter cooling or other methods would be introduced to cut down on energy use.
