Description of Company and Activities Becquerel Laboratories Inc. is a small, specialized, analytical group established in 1982. The company is managed and directed from the Mississauga office and differentiates from other labs by offering only two types of analysis: radionuclide analysis and neutron activation analysis (NAA). Our skilled group includes Ph. D. chemists who have over 25 years of experience with radiochemical analysis and NAA. We provide analysis for a wide range of radionuclides in environmental samples such as water, sediments and fish, plus air filters and process control samples. We have also worked on research projects concerned with the uptake of uranium and its decay products. Neutron activation analysis involves irradiation of the sample, usually without any pretreatment. This technique has been applied to large geochemical reconnaissance surveys for environmental and exploration programs. Because of our unique expertise, we can provide customized analysis for difficult matrices such as vegetation, coal and plastics. Becquerel is accredited to ISO 17025 by the Standards Council of Canada. Becquerel is a member of The Canadian Association of Environmental Analytical Laboratories (CAEAL) and The Canadian Council of Independent Laboratories(CCIL) and conforms to its Code of Ethics. The lab participates in a proficiency testing programs using neutron activation as well as standard certification programs for CANMET and NIST. For radiological analysis, Becquerel participates in the Environmental Resource Associates Performance Evaluation Program. These help to evaluate our analysis performance and to assess our QA/QC procedures regarding analyses of air filter, soil, vegetation and water samples.
