BOS Engineering is a small private Canadian professional services firm which has brought together a group of engineers, biologists and environmental specialists with substantial project experience for environmental projects in the following areas:

Data Collection And Soils Analysis: Surveys, soil testing and design of drainage and waste treatment/management services.

Soil/Water Quantity And Quality: Model development and application, monitoring, remediation, hydrology and drainage quantity/quality management, hyrdogeological studies.

Soil Erosion/Siltation: Siltation measurement and characterisation, environmentally-sound sediment removal and treatment, soil erosion assessment, prevention and control in riverine, coastal and gullied areas, including urban, industrial and agricultural applications. Experienced in optimization of dredging and sediment removal and treatment methods.

EnvironmentaL Audits, Site Assessments And Remediation: Soils and hydrogeologic investigations including contaminated sites. Environmental site assessments, audits and site remediation. Design of spill containment facilities, storage tank farms, underground oil tank removal, hazardous chemical storage and handling. Projects involving industrial, municipal and agricultural sectors including landfills, tailings storage, agricultural waste storage, spills management, contingency planning, harbour dredging and site decommissioning.

Fisheries Habitat: Design and retrofitting of open channels, harbours and reservoirs for fisheries habitat management including buffer strips, shade vegetation, natural channel reconstruction, water recharge, silt control and bank structures.

WaTershed Studies And Rural Non-Point Pollution: Watershed investigative studies, resources inventories, interpretive water quality monitoring and modelling programs, remedial measure design, construction supervision, as well as policy reviews and remedial program development for governments. Specialists in rural non-point source pollution studies, models and control methods. This expertise has now also been extended to pollutant permit trading program assessments and designs.

Waste Treatment: Design and assessment of landfill operations and associated environmental approvals. Septic/waste management system assessments, designs and installation.

Information Transfer And Public Relations: Preparation and/or execution of communications strategies for complex environmental issues. Development of public meetings/hearings and/or workshops, and preparation of documentation, brochures, fact sheets, and manuals for any of the above areas of expertise.

Currently, BOS undertakes all of its work in Canada. However, BOS seeks strategic alliances with small local firms in the United States and Mexico.

  The Settling Basin Optimization technology involves the optimization of simple settling basins for removal of particulates either in-stream or off-line for process slurry. Size, shape, flow path, baffling and outlet design are variables to be optimized to attain desired efficiency of sediment/containment removal. The technology is ideal for dredge effluent particulate removal.
