Anker-Holth's roots date back to the early 1900's when as a small machine shop, we manufactured specialty hydraulic equipment components for the emerging fluid power industry. By the early 1950's, Anker-Holth was manufacturing a broad range of specialty cylinders for many major North American companies.
As heavy industry discovered its potential applications, fluid power began to replace traditional mechanical power transmission systems in steel mills, power plants, on ships and in other heavy industries. Fluid power and capital equipment engineers were fast becoming aware of Anker-Holth's contribution to this growth. As industry moved more and more into fluid power, they came to rely increasingly upon the premium-quality work done on Anker-Holth's drawing boards, desks, production machinery and test equipment.
During the 1960's, Anker-Holth started to manufacture extra large hydraulic cylinders with up to 45 foot strokes for various hydro-electrical power projects across North America.
The 1970's saw the diversification of Anker-Holth into high- tech., space age products such as equilibrator systems for satellite launching platforms and into hydraulic lifting systems used on airport passenger boarding ramps.
Anker-Holth made international headlines by building the world's largest hydraulic cylinder. British Columbia Hydro commissioned the design and manufacture of this cylinder for its Revelstoke Project. This Mammoth 27 inch bore, 53 foot stroke cylinder, weighing in excess of 100, 000 pounds, again demonstrated Anker- Holth's engineering capability, manufacturing flexibility and high standards for quality.
