Alta Precision Inc. was estblished in early 1980 in Montreal, Quebec, Canada. The two partners who started the business, Guillermo Alonso and Walter Schultheiss had worked together for many years in the aerospace industry, intially as toolmakers, then as manufacturing engineering and NC shop supervisors. With more than fifty year of combined experience and a broad industry network in place, they decided to strike out as an independent subcontract machining business.
From the beginning they focussed on complex, precision components, primarily in the aerospace sector. By combining their unique manufacturing knowledge and skills, with the latest high quality CNC machine tools, Alta built a solid reputation for successfully delivering the really though jobs. Jobs which the other competitive shops refused, or could not deliver.
The client base includes some of the most illustrious names in the aerospace business, Boeing, Pratt & Whitney, Canadair, Martin Marrietta, Litton, Littef, EMS Technologies, CAE Electronics, etc.
In late 1990, an expansion was required, and the company relocated to a new 25, 000 square feet facility in Ville d'Anjou, Montreal. This modern, totally air conditioned plant and offices, is equipped with fifteen CNC machine tools, both machining centers and lathes. In 1999 another expansion was needed and 12, 0000 sq ft were added to the building, bringing the total floor space to 37, 000 sq ft. Parts sizes range from turned parts as small as 1.00' diameter, through to prismatic parts as large as 236: * 86' * 60'. Alta Precision regularly machines metal parts of all material types and specifications.
In recent years the product mix has been strategically repositioned, to include a higher percentage of commercial work. Also during this same period, Alta made significant investments in over to produce larger complex metal components. These two initiatives have allowed the company to successfully come through the 1990's recession, during a period when many companies failed.
Alta Precision recognizes that the marketplace and its customer requirements are changing. The status quo is not enough to stay in the race any longer. This is as true for small companies as it is for the multinationals. Alta Precision management is committed to building on its valuable heritage, with a progressive plan to gradually grow the company in revenues, size, product, and process capability deliverables.
