Alliance Sonic Drilling Inc. is Canada's first and only Aboriginal based Sonic and Conventional (Diamond Drilling) drilling provider. Sonic is the most environmental friendly drilling application available to date as it uses no drilling fluid in most overburden allications and only 20% when drilling in bedrock as compared to conventional drilling applications. Los Alomos National Labortory has facilitated a cost benefit analysis for vibratory (Sonic) drilling in contaminated environmental clean-up applications with favourable results for using sonic as compared to conventional drilling applications. As there is no drilling discharge(Drilling by product, other than desired core sample) disposal cost of contaminated drilling waste is very marginal as compared to auger and cable tool applications.

Sonic Drilling is the most advanced and innovative environmentally friendly drilling technology available to date. The term Sonic is derived from sound frequency that falls within the lower range of sound vibration that can be detected by the Human Ear. Sonic Drilling uses high frequency vibration that is created by two counter balanced oscillators with in the head of the drill that is on top of the drill string, that operate in the range of 50-150 HRZ (Revolutions per second) thus creating a high motion vibration that is resonated though the drill string from the head to the face of the bit. Rotation is used along with down pressure to advance and evenly distribute the cuttings at the face of the carbide bit. This process does not need a drilling fluid medium in most overburden applications to remove cuttings. The Sonic vibration actually fluidizes the material at the face of the bit and displaces the material to the side of the hole, thus preventing any by-product coming to the top of the hole. When drilling in Bedrock, only 20% as compared to conventional drilling practices of Drilling by- product (Drilling Affluent) is produced. Sonic Drilling is becoming recognized as the most environmentally friendly drilling practise to date by many regulative governing authorities. Sonic Drilling is faster than conventional drilling, i. e. Auger drilling which is proven to be at a drilling rate of 4 Sonic Bore holes to every Auger hole drill ratio, when auger drilling practices hit a boulder it has to re-drill and hope that it does not encounter other boulders, sonic on the other hand has the ability to drill through and have the most continuous (30 feet) and undisturbed core sample to date, thus maintaining contract cost parameters.
