ATCO Frontec, a wholly owned subsidiary of Canadian Utilities Limited, started as a 'greenfields' initiative, whose name stood for Frontier Technologies. The Company was incorporated in 1986 to supply electrical services, technical expertise and logistical support in northern Canada, and has become a world-class facilities management and technical services company. In 2002, ATCO Frontec achieved revenues of $200 million generated through contracts to manage over $3 billion in client-owned assets and facilities.
The first contract awarded to ATCO Frontec in January 1988 was to manage, operate and maintain the North American Aerospace Defense Command's (NORAD) North Warning System, which has grown to include 46 radar sites and five logistical support sites scattered throughout Canadas far north.
