Acme Engineering Products Ltd. was incorporated in 1968 as an electric heating equipment manufacturer. It designed and began manufacturing gas detection and control instrumentation in the early 1970s. ACME Engineering is a privately owned corporation. Manufacturing is performed in Montral with sales throughout North America from their Montral and U. S. offices.

The company currently offers the following product lines:

Automatic Scraper Strainer: Designed to automatically remove contaminants down to 75 m in size from all liquid process flows. It is ideally suited to the purification of water intake from lakes and rivers or for removing waste from industrial effluent or other waste treatment. Unlike conventional backwash-design strainers, the Scraper Strainer can automatically remove all large solid particles, even bottles and cans.

Boilers, Superheaters, and Related Equipment: Acme has developed a reputation as a high quality, custom manufacturer of electric hot water and steam boilers, superheaters and other electric 'wet heat' equipment. While the market for this type of equipment is typically within an 800 km radius of Montral, Acme has exported boilers to Japan and Africa because of the special nature of the project involved. Acme commonly produces design-built products where other manufacturers have refused to quote.

Gas Detection Equipment: Began in the early 1970s when Acme was the first to adapt instrumentation-style equipment to the building market. Acme's equipment is designed to control ventilation systems in buildings, most notably through carbon monoxide (CO) gas detection in underground parking garages. The gas detection systems have three benefits: they provide air quality control; assure safety in environments where dangerous gases are present; and, conserve electricity because the ventilation equipment runs only when required. Other gases include: CO 2 for indoor air quality; diesel fumes detection for bus and truck terminals and unloading areas; Volatile Organic Compounds (VOC) for numerous industrial and office applications; R-123 refrigerant detection; and, O 2 deficiency detection.

Spill Detection Equipment: Designed to be used in industrial or building applications where hazardous fluids are stored and/or water leaks could cause great property and environmental damage. These systems are economical, rugged and easy to install and come with a variety of detectors suitable to most applications.

Acme exports 80% of its production of gas detection equipment to the United States through 60 representatives. Acme would like to expand to cover Western Europe. Typically, the type of representative Acme is looking for is involved in the ventilation business and would like to expand into the environmental control field. Acme is most interested in finding Latin American, Asian and European representation.

ACME is interested in pursuing representation or joint venture agreements with other European and South American countries.

ACME is interested in discussing transfer agreements in both the air and water pollution instrumentation fields.
